Analyzing the Effects of Tool Holder Stiffness on Chatter Vibration Reduction in Turning

This paper investigates the effects of tool holder materials on chatter vibration in turning operations. The study uses a complex dynamic model with two degrees freedom for orthogonal cutting system. Tool holders made from different materials, including Al 5083, 6082, 7012, and standard 4140 material, were subjected to investigate their process damping capabilities. found that allows higher stable depths cut produces similar values compared other holders. Finite element analyses (FEA) performed verify experimental results, modal FEA produced very results. concludes future research should high alloy steel alloys damping. Overall, this provides important insights into operations, which can help design more efficient effective systems.
